Earlier today I installed WFView. I have successfully used comm0comm Win4Icom with my laptop and IC-7300 and I managed to expand the 3rd party software to utilize 4 or 5 additional programs. If I don’t mess with it again it will remain to function as it has been.
Moving forward I would like the same functionality with WFView. From what I have looked at on this topic, it appears that WFView, can only have one additional piece of software, running with an app like Comm0comm. Is this something that may be coming in a later version?
Highly unlikely to be honest, until we have implemented every command in every radio and can serve the vsp devices via a cache/queue. Otherwise, with older radios, it will overwhelm them.
You are much better off using the rigctld daemon within wfview as that is properly queued and can have an unlimited number of connections.
What software are you using, as if it uses Hamlib as its rig interface, it will almost certainly support rigctl?
Well it depends on what I want to do at the moment. I prefer amateur contact log to start with. Then FLDIGI, or VaraC. Maybe wsjt. I use Win4Icom exclusively right now but I like WFView and the way it works.
Ryan, did you read the link I sent? At least fldigi and wsjt-x can use rigctld (TCP/IP) direct to wfview (at the same time), without the pseudo serial port. Those other apps you use might support rigctld connections as well, worth checking.
This type of connection is both common among many ham radio programs and also more advanced.

I am sorry Phil I didn’t see a link, please try again.
Hi Ryan,
It is probably easier and of greater value for you to simply head to our website and press “User Manual” and then go down to “User Manual Table of Contents” and then go to “Sharing Control with other programs (START HERE)”.
Please try and read that page. It will help your understanding tremendously.

note also that serial ports generally are blocking devices, slow etc. So the best bets shud be the use of rigctld emulation over TCP.
I looked and it appears that Fldigi doesn’t work with WFView under Windows, or at least hasn’t been tested.
While I haven’t personally tested fldigi with windows and macOS, I have every reason to believe it will work. The hamlib protocol is the same (rigctld).

It’s cold here, so maybe later I will try. I am hopeful, but not confident.
