Wfview 1.61 released

Thanks. I will be careful before I go away on holiday.

Any comments on not being able to use a headset mic?

I use a headset exclusively.

And wfview recognises the mic? If so what is your headset?

I use an analog headset into the jack on my Thinkpad.

Did you try plugging in the headset before opening wfview?

Just plugged in my Earpods and immediately they show in system settings under both audio input and output but not in wfview.

Tried repeating that process and on the third time the mic showed in wfview – YES!. I suspect that wfview mic detection is flaky. I pulled out the Earpod plug and wfview crashed and showed a debug screen. Tried that twice and each time wfview crashes. But I have managed to get the mic working twice now which is progress but it seems to be unreliable starting and it shouldn’t crash pulling out the plug. Tried a third time and wfview crashed and then I could not reconnect to the radio. Had to power cycle the radio. I have a smart wifi power socket that lets me reboot remotely from an app in my phone.

Not far off working

We don’t have hotplug (or hotunplug) support yet.

Just finished best remote QSO yet. The guy did say the audio sounded like it might be clipping sometimes. Where do I adjust mic level?

Found it – called LAN

The LAN has zero effect on the TX audio meter level?

All wfview does is request a list of devices from the underlying audio API (QT Audio, PortAudio or RT Audio).

There is no support for hotplugging devices though so if you plug a new device in, you must restart wfview (similarly unplugging will likely crash wfview unless you disconnect from the radio first)

The LAN slider changes the audio input level directly on the radio, the TX audio meter is the audio level coming into wfview from your audio device.

Aha – so I have changed meter to ALC and now LAN changes level the ALC

Yes because ALC is generated by the radio and TX level is generated by wfview (it’s really a convenience feature to make sure that wfview is actually receiving your audio.)

All good now – thank you so much. Big storm coming so have to lower antenna

Isn’t that always the way as soon as you get something working?
