My business has always been Electronics Engineering. I was a senior EE (research) where I specialised in the field of interference cancelling and signal analysis and other problems. My only projects that may have been applicable to the field of amateur radio were:

  1. An adaptive morse code reader to decode hand generated morse coded signals. The reader only assumed that there are various times associated with the marks and spaces. Here we tried to find a “signature” associated with the transmission.

  2. The transmission & reception of very low power transmissions in the HF bands (random and burst noise). For those interested this scheme was based on an interleaved BCH (31,16) code with a 31 bit frame synchronising block - 992 bits per burst.

Why am I here ? While listening to the signals in the 40m band looking at an OTHR signals I “discovered” (last person to find it! )the ft8 signal and was intrigued. Hence my appearance on this excellent site.

I am not a programmer as I only know enough to be dangerous.
