Hello,

A Happy New Year to all

Really embarrassed to ask this, but I truly need some
very basic help, please.

I have read all the (excellent) documentation.

Will blame it all on old age now, very, and the fact that
I haven’t dealt with anything like this in a very long time.

Would like to use with an Icom R-8600 on my mac

Where, or how, do I determine:

Host Name
User Name
Password

Control Port. (pretty sure that it is 50001)

Not sure how to handle the finding of these 3 parameters (anymore) ?
Sure I wrote them down, but it’s been a long time.

  Is there, perhaps, a version that doesn't require all these "Names" 
  for folks like me ?

Any help would be most appreciated.

the username and password are set in the 8600. You did that,
The hostname or ip address depends on if you have set it static or use DHCP.
In both cases that’s almost at the same place as the user and the pass.

Dear Bob,

Reading the owners manual for the R8600 will answer all your questions. At some point, it really is worth doing even though it is a lot of information to digest – reading the manual effectively increases the value of the radio.

Anyway, for the answer you seek, you just have to go through the menus on the radio and find and/or set these parameters.

Here is a setup guide I saw online. It assumes you have already connected the ethernet cord.
