That’s because wfview doesn’t do anything with audio on USB connected radios (other than pass it through to the server for remotely connected wfview clients)
If you want to use a computer microphone, you would need to use some form of audio patchbay. If using digital modes, simply select the USB codec devices of your radio in the software (fldigi/wsjt-x etc.)
SorryI can see you are using the wfview server, but the server audio devices are set to Realtek, not the radios USB Codec, so that will be your problem, change them in the server tab in settings
Check that setting on the server, not the client
Sorry - I’ve been a little scant on information. This is about the remote computer which is taking to the server which is connected to the radio. This arrangement works very well using a laptop and I have tried to make certain that the settings for the remote desktop are the same except for the source of audio. My laptop shows the Tx(dbfs) scale. The PC is not. The PC is showing the correct selection of input and can be seen to work using Audacity. It also shows that WFview has the mic connected. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled though I belief some settings possibly in Registry have not been taken out from previous uninstall.
If I use the laptop, both the onboard and externally connected mics work
I am getting receive and can hear. Just can’t get modulation to the server. I would still expect to see the TX(dbfs) scale even if I had no modulation
Our messages have crossed. Will look again
Another thing worth checking is that the audio output level for the USB Codec is set to a reasonable level in the windows audio control panel as other users have seen that muted by default. This is the audio output ‘to’ the radio (tx audio)
Server audio settings are IC7300 USB Com 3. What I have sent is the file from the remote computer connected to the server
But surely - that would be from the server to the radio. As said, that works well with another computer connected as client. and I’ve had a few QSOs that way. The laptop sounds boxy which is why I am trying to use a desktop using a mic which I know works. And I see the TX(dbfs) scale on the laptop but not the Desktop
Alastair, what are the server audio devices set to?
Elliot, server settings for PC connected to radio:
RX Audio Input = IC7300 (3-USB Audio CODEC)
TX Audio Output = IC7300 (3-USB Audio CODEC)
As said to Phil. These settings work perfectly with my laptop as client. I think the issue is related to the client I am now attempting to use and all settings are identical on that PC client to the laptop except the audio devices which are pertinent to the new client PC. As also said - the mic is working with other apps on the PC and is available to WFview as far as I can tell
Should also add that connection to radio at server is USB when server is enabled and MIC when not enabled. I use the PC connected to the radio locally sometimes and use local MIC
Returning to this; I notice that when I Uninstall the program through Control Panel and Apps it does not delete C://Program Files/wfview folder and files. I uninstalled and then deleted the folder but on reinstall, my PC seems to have knowledge of user name and PW and logs in resulting in the same problem of not displaying the TX(dbfs) scale. I guess this may be more of a Windows issue that WFview. Any thoughts?
Uninstalling wfview actually does very little (just removes the program files) I have never found a situation where this was necessary. All configuration options are available in the settings window.
The lack of TX(dbfs) means that the radio isn’t receiving the audio from wfview, so the problem is going to be either USB is not selected as the mod source on the radio OR the audio configuration of either the client or server are not set correctly.
You can verify if audio is getting as far as the wfview client by checking the Radio Status window. This will show a bargraph of both RX and MOD audio. If nothing is showing on the MOD bargraph, most likely the input device is muted in Windows.
I sorted it! Sadly - I had overlooked in User Interface settings to select the “secondary meter selection” from ‘none’ to TX Audio. The microphone output was a widows issue which I have now sorted so all is well. Thanks and 73
