What have I got set wrong?
Hi Terry,
You show the client configured for Serial (USB). Please set it to Network, and fill in the hostname (this is the ip address of the server), username, and password.
Let us know how it goes,

Also, on the server machine, under the Server Tab, you need to select the USB audio devices created by the IC7300.

Is the ip address the address of my router ie 192.168.1.254?
No it will never be that. If both machines are connected to your local network, the IP address you enter in the client computer is the address of the server computer.

No you need to enter the IP address of the computer, not the hardware (MAC) address.
Well, Iām not the computer guru that I thought I was. Still searching for up address on windows laptop.
Open a Command Prompt, type ipconfig (no astericks) followed by Enter.
It will show a list of information for various Ethernet Adapters. Look for the one labeled 'Wi-Fi"
It should show you the IPv4 address. It may be something like: 192.168.1.XXX. Whatever it is, that is your IP address.
