Can’t get server to come up and agree it is running. 7300 seems to be well controlled but the server and access tabs don’t want to let me change all the parms it says to change? Also had an operator name and password it let me enter but then later locked me out-never did ask me for the name and password. Compiled fine and controls the rig ok so most of it is running. Sometimes it would not allow input of the audio info on the alsa mixer audio modules where the manual said you should be able to enter those easily. The virtual snd-aloop code all went well so that was seemingly not a problem.

Some settings will not be available in a client while You are CONNECTED to a server - so ‘disconnect’ to access these.
Some changes to settings will revert next time you launch the application unless you use the ‘save settings’ button after changing them. Best to save those settings, then restart the application to check they are saved. This goes for server, including adding users, and client settings. Best practice is to save the settings, then restart the application to be sure when you make big changes.
The most confusing thing on a Linux install is the multitude of stupid names available in the soundcard settings on both the server and client. This is a linux thing - too much information! But, if you confirm the login and remote control functions are working, then it’s only a matter of time before you get the correct sound devices selected in both the server and client. Once You do that, You can experiment with the codecs, bit-rates and so on to find the best for You.
Unreliable logins (assuming it works SOMETIMES) are down to networking issues at either end, or between the machines. Using WiFi is really not a good starting point. At least get it confirmed as reliable on LAN cables sharing a switch with fixed or reserved IP addresses for each machine first.
Many thanks for the advice. Yes the audio is a problem, have to just “know” what will work with what and I don’t hi. Had intermittent connection, found that so making some progress. Back to the fray!
