FT4/FT8 transmissions not being decode when sent remotely

Hello,

I am having an issue where when I use Wfview remotely, I cannot send a transmission of FT4/FT8. Let me explain. I can receive and decode without issues, but when I transmit, my transmission keys my Icom 7300 but it is not being received or decoded on the receiving end.
I monitor my transmissions with PSKreporter and when I am sending directly from the server everything works fine, and my transmissions are decoded and I am heard all over as shown in PSKReporter.
I noticed on the waterfall display when I transmit that it seems that my signal/audio is distorted when sending from the remote computer. When I look at the waterfall display on the server the signal/audio looks clean.
I seems like the audio that WSJTX is sending to Wfview is somehow distorted and I don’t know what is causing it.
I am using virtual audio driver to interface between WSJTX and Wfview.
I took screen captures that show the distorted waterfall view from the remote computer and another that shows the clean waterfall view taken on the server.
The first is the one from the remote client computer. You can see that the audio looks distorted and very wide.

The second picture is from the server. You can see that the audio looks clean and nice and narrow.

Any ideas?

If you look in the logs for both the client and server computer, I am guessing you will see lots of retransmit messages? This would suggest a network issue. I can see the RTT time is quite high, so assume you are operating remote.

You don’t mention which audio codec you are using, I would usually suggest using Opus as that is the most efficient. You need to experiment with different codec/sample rate and audio system until you find what works for you (there is no magic bullet as every setup is different)

Thinking about this more, another thing to check is the output level from wfview on your client computer, that looks like it is probably set too high for your virtual sound card (you can adjust this in the windows audio control panel)

also be sure your system time is spot on…

Phil I am using the default audio codec, not sure what that is. Yes the problem is with the remote instance. No problems when operating on the server.
I’m pretty sure that I don’t have the audio output level very high but I will check on that.
No issue with time sync. I am using an app that automatically keeps my time synchronized.

Phil et al.,

I got it to work. I had to uninstall the virtual audio cable and WSJT-X and reinstall. All is back to working again.
