HI, I am running windows 11 in my house about 80’ from my garage where I want to get a IC-7300 to transmit from house on either Wfview or HDSDR when I get my license.
What is best way to connect them ? Can I do it wirelessly or will a usb extender with
cat 7 exterior cable be better. Also I do have a computer in garage that is wireless to the house already. Also will I need to use a panadapter or any other hardware to make it work ? Thanks 4 any advice
Use a Raspberry Pi or normal desktop computer to your ham shack and run wfview as a server on that computer. Then run the Cat 7 (or Cat 5 or Cat 6) from your garage to the house and put it on the network.
Then, you can use your IC-7300 by installing wfview on a laptop or another PC in your house. And optionally, you can setup port forwarding and use it outside of your house as well.

Elliott, So do I run the cat 6 cable from the server computer to my router in the house
or can I run it direct to the client computer I will be using ? also thanks for the user manual that helps alot Dave
Hi Dave,
I recommend running the cable from the server computer to the router. This way you can take advantage of things the router offers such as DHCP.
