Help Getting WF working

I can’t get my laptop to connect to my IC-7610 via WIFI. I put my IP address in Hostname, set control port to 50001, entered by user name, and password. Network is checked at the top left of the setup form, all the other items in the “getting started” part of the user manual are set as specified.

When I click connect to radio, nothing happens. Would appreciate some assistance in getting this working.

Thanks, Barry - K5VIP

first thing is if you can ping the rig from your laptop.

When you say “…I put my IP address in hostname” , do you mean you’ve placed the IP address of your laptop in the hostname box? or the IP of the radio?

To find IP address in radio ----> MENU button ----> Settings (or SET ) ----> Network —> IP Setting

Note that this is the IP address that should be used in “hostname” field

However, as Roeland pointed out, try a PING command first.

Click the “START” menu on laptop and just start typing CMD. You will note that the application Command Prompt should show up, now click “open” and a black window should show. Next type:
PING {insert radio's IP Address}
and press “ENTER” key. This should produce an output like:
REPLY FROM: 192.168.1.10: 62 bytes sent.
(ignore the IP address, I just used it as example here )

But the point is you should be getting replies from your radio.

If you haven’t been able to get any replies from radio, you have a network problem that you will need to resolve first.

If you are getting PING replies, but the radio still will not communicate with WFVIEW, report back to us using this post and we can try to fix.

(One additional note, double check CONTROL, SERIAL & AUDIO Settings within the Network Menu of the 7610… they should be 50001, 50002, and 50003 respectively.)

Hi Barry,

As Roeland said, make sure you can ping the radio first. Always a good sanity check.

Also make sure CI-V Transceive is turned ON on the radio.

If you can’t figure it out, send us your log file.
