IC-705 ~ GPS Serial Port "B"

Hi,

When IC-705 is connected to Windows PC/Laptop via USB shows “2” Serial Ports, “A” and “B”
in Device Manager…

“A” is used for CAT/Control
“B” I use to get “GPS” data to use with Bkt Time Sync

Is there anyway to get to Serial Port “B” when using Wfview over WiFi…??

Thanks… Dave

No that isn’t possible.

Just to clarify, the Icom network protocol has no provision for USB ‘B’ data, so it would need Icom to modify their protocol (which is extremely unlikely)

Hi Phil,
Thanks for that… It’s a pity…

Hi Dave,

No, not directly.

What information would you get from port B? Maybe there is a way to get it over the CI-V interface. There are hundreds of GPS-related commands on the 705 which we aren’t using at this time (you can send them via the virtual serial port of wfview).

Ahh ok, “Bkt Time Sync”. That might be difficult but take a look at the 705 CI-V commands and see what you think.

It works fine over usb, just select COM Port in BKT Time Sync, and it works…
Time Syncs, and you get your Grid Square
