IC-705 TX audio via WLAN not working as expected

Brief summary of problem (put in title as well):
Radio Model: IC-705
Connectivity (USB/Ethernet/Wifi/Other): WiFI
Operating System: WIN10
wfview version (press “About”): 2.03
Checked the wfview manual (Y/N): Y
Checked the wfview FAQ (Y/N): Y
Tried to google it (Y/N/NA): Y

What I did:

IC-705 is connected to the network router using WLAN. The PC running WIN10 connected to the same network. I use N1MM for VHF/UHF/SHF contesting and most of the traffic is FT4/FT8. N1MM connects via CAT to the External Control Port in WFView. WSJT-X connects via DXLAB protocol and audio via virtual audio cables. The CAT and Audio connection between WSJT-X and WFView is working, and audio reaches the IC-705.

Expected behavior:

TX audio pass through from WSJT-X to IC-705 when transmitting.

Observed behavior:

When I am transmit with WSJT-X the DATA MOD setting in the IC-705 changes automatically to USB. It does not matter that I set DATA1 to WLAN in WFView setup, most of the time it flips back to Mic. Audio levels are displayed in WFView and if I go into the IC-705 menu while transmitting and change the DATA MOD from USB to WLAN (during TX) the radio starts transmitting that audio (again, audio flows well all the way to the radio).

What is changing my DATA MOD in the IC-705 setting when WSJT-X hits TX?

This is some kind of command that WSJT-X is sending. You may have to poke around in WSJT-X for any kind of “use alternate audio” or “use rear audio” or “set audio port” options. I’m sure this is a common issue with the application as it is rather presumptuous to switch the audio port on the user with each transmission!

Maybe it is where it says “Transmit Audio Source”, try changing whatever yours says.

Thanks for the suggestion. This setting is greyed out, fixed at Front/Mic.

I believe I traced it down to N1MM, seems like it defaults to USB. When taking N1MM out of the equation, FT4/8 TX work as expected.

I tried to work around it using VOX but no luck. Seems this is something I need to address with the N1MM team.
