Hi Tommy,

You have found one of the rigs that is only partially supported as none of us have one!

I will go through the rig file and see if I can find the issue. It’s tricky without an actual radio to test though, so it may take a couple of attempts to get it right.

Thanks

Phil

I have created an IC-9100 file. It may not be complete and sub/main vfoa/b are unlikely to work fully as I now remember why I skipped the 9100! It has 2 receivers, each with 2 VFOs, but with very limited methods of accessing them (different to any other radio) so it may take a while as I will really need one here to test.

Anyway, as you are using a Mac, follow these instructions:

  1. Download the IC-9100.rig file
  2. Right click (or shift-click) on the wfview binary and select ‘Show Package Contents’
  3. Drag the IC-9100.rig file to Contents\MacOS\rigs folder

Sorry, the file in the above post has the wrong CI-V address (misprint in the manual I was using) please use the one here

IC-9100.rig (26.6 KB)

Thanks Phil and all for your effort.

I added the rig file as you said and now Wfview stays connected till I stop it but in the log file there are a lot och unknown commands and overruns.

I have other rigs, including IC-905 but I am traveling during holidays and the IC-9100 and a MBP are the only thing available remotely for a week. / regards Tommy

One more comment, now it shows the rig as “default” instead of IC-9100.
I am also missing some buttons like “enable ATU” and ”tune” which I use with the AH-4 attached.
I have not upgraded the Server Pi4 yet, only my MBP which is traveling with me.

Are you absolutely sure that you have copied the file into the correct location (and restarted wfview) as that log indicates that the rig file DEFAULT-ICOM is still being used, which means it can’t find the new rig file?

” Blushing ” sorry, now it’s done and restarted and I checked set atu , tune , even 2 antennas can be selected. Thanks again .

That looks a lot better. There are still some invalid command warnings, although some of them could be invalid data received from the rig.

Unsupported command received from rig "7ce11502" Check rig file

Is a strange one, especially as I can see the same in a few places. That isn’t a valid command, so could possibly be corrupt data. The problem with some of the older USB rigs is that the USB port is still half-duplex (the IC-7100 is the same) although I would have expected the rig collision detection to pop up.

I will fix those missing commands, but they are benign and shouldn’t cause any issues. I can see quite a bit of packet loss as well, I assume this is because you are working remotely?

Phil

Hi Phil, been away on a trip, Sri. That was a remote connection. Just testing now versions now , you made a lot of progress, I really like the VFO button on main screen. For the moment I use IC-705 via USB to an iMac. Strange that Wfview can not automatically connect to IC-705.
I finds one port but needs the other port so it’s easy to manage but could it be automagically ?

This is a common issue with Icom radios, they generally provide 2 serial ports (often with the S/N having A or B at the nd). On the 705, I think that the two ports are identically named, so wfview has no way of knowing which is the C-IV port. It is usually the first port found (but not always).

I very rarely use my IC705 over USB, but I can try and see if there is anything unique between the two ports naming.

This is how the IC-705 shows up on Windows. There are small difference in the hardware IDs, not sure if this can be seen on all platforms. Port B is used for things like d-star terminal mode and GPS data so you would want to ignore it and use Port A where the CI-V data is.

All OK with connection and tried ATU and a CQ on 28.500 looks OK.
Will use it on contest 144 MHz Tuesday.
/ thanks for your efforts. / Tommy
