IC7300, Cw via DTR

First of all, thank you all for your xmas present: version 2!

My goal is to run cw from the contest log (dx-log) using wfview.

W10 is the platform I’m using for my test.
I started with a working configuration: log and rig is configured to use DTR pin as CW on COM3.

By adding Wfview to my scenario I created a virtual-pair-com.
VSPE was my first attempt, com0com my second.

So I create com5-com6. I configured Wfview to use com5 as the virtual serial port in the external control setting, changed the logging program to use com6 and I can get correct qrg and qsy requests.

But… no CW at all.

As said, in an attempt to investigate this I make a second attempt with com0com, same unsuccessful result.

Any suggestions?
What am I doing wrong?
Do I need a special setting in the virtual com program?

Hi Silvio,

DTR (and RTS) is tricky. wfview does not “pass through” these signals via our pseudo serial (pty) interface because they are not even formally defined for ptys. I don’t think we can even know if it is toggled on the pty.

There could be some sort of third party virtual serial port thing out there that handles DTR at a higher level. I’m honestly not sure. You will have to run this other program (if it exists) on the radio’s serial port directly. And then connect wfview to this theoretical other program, as well as connecting your program which expects to use DTR to the theoretical program.

I wish I knew. Someone here may know of a program that passes DTR.

If you find something, please let us know.

Thanks,
