New install not working with ICOM 7300

Please provide the following information with your question:

  1. Operating System: Win 11
  2. Method of download attempted: Zip file from website
  3. Radio Model: ICom 7300
  4. Method of radio connectivity (USB, WiFi, Ethernet, etc): USB serial
  5. Did you check the FAQ and read the manual? Yes

I followed the setup and selected serial via the USB. I was then taken to a configuration screen where I set the com port (COM4) and baud rate (115200). I then selected connect to radio but nothing happens. If I go to the main display window no information is pulled from the radio and if I try to do anything with the controls there it just exits. I also found a sample setup for an older version and it appears I have done everything correctly.

I have both WSJTX and Rigctl working with exactly the same com port settings on the same machine.

Have you got CI-V Transceive enabled on the radio?

Menu\Set\Connectors\CI-V\CI-V Transceive

It MUST be enabled for wfview to function correctly.

Use CI-V…: 94
Serial Device: AUTO
baud: 115200

Radio:
civ Baud: Auto

I resolved it. There are quite a few resources on the net but not all are accurate. There were a few CI-V settings I had to change including baud rate Auto.

This is why we have a dedicated document on our Getting Started page which describes exactly how to set the 7300. Newer Icom radios have so many settings, this is why it’s a presentation of screenshots.

If anyone wants to contribute a similar document for other radios I think that would be great.
