My Win11 server may have a port 4 problem that prevents the client from connecting to it. Otherwise I can control my IC-7300 well with a good waterfall display. Also get a statement in the client log: “Cannot prepare WF view without rigCaps. Waiting on this.”
The port setting in WFview (on the machine physically connected to the Rig) is the USB/serial port the Rig appears to Windows as, and as long as it’s set in the rig to 115200 baud, it should be good to stream waterfall and such to WFview. If you can control the rig and see a waterfall on Your W11 machine - it’s working fine, and if you enable it as a server should act as such also.
By client - if you mean the instance of WFview on another machine, it would need to have it’s settings set for a NETWORK connection, matching the settings you have set in the server instance.
In the client, You should use the IP address of the W11 machine if it’s on your local network, but if you are connecting from outside your home network, You need to use the IP address of Your home, and forward appropriate ports to the server machine in Your router…
Thank you for your very rapid response.
Yes, you understand the situation as I see it. The client (remote Win11 machine) is set to Network and on the same LAN. I just checked the IPv4 address on the server machine and think I have it correct.
Apparently the client (Network remote machine) is not connecting.
Attached is the termbin file for the remote machine.
Thankyou in advance. https://termbin.com/y2pz
I have switched my remote computer and my server computer and found that WFview is working. In fact I have successfully connected 2 remote computers to a server all within my LAN and found that they work. Guess I am feeling confident that about configuring WFview. Still, I don’t know why one of my computers will not operate as a server! Still playing with that.
I found that sometimes it is necessary to close when open the program for parameter changes to take effect. Also, I have learned that Windows 11 may not respond to com port changes. I often have to power down or disconnect my radios for the computer to reset a com port.
