Brief summary of problem (put in title as well): TS-890 Bug Changes main signal screen when PFA button pressed (transmits)
Radio Model: TS-890
Connectivity (USB/Ethernet/Wifi/Other): Ethernet
Operating System: Win11
wfview version (press “About”): 2.11
Checked the wfview manual (Y/N): Y
Checked the wfview FAQ (Y/N): Y
Tried to google it (Y/N/NA): NA
What I did: I started WFVIEW and connected to radio. I changed to 20m band. I hit the PFA button on the radio which starts transmitting a carrier for my remote tuner.
Expected behavior: The bandwidth display on the signal portion should not change
Observed behavior: The bandwidth display changes from 3KHz no bandwidth. I have before and after images. Image 1 is before the PFA button is pressed and Image 2 is after the press.
The method of determining the RX passband is something that we are working on at the moment, as unlike Icom radios (which send the actual passband bandwidth as a value). Kenwood (and Yaesu) return a number which represents the passband depending on which mode is currently in use. I can only assume that pressing the PSA button breaks the particular method we are using?
Does it return to normal once you stop sending a carrier?
I can confirm that pressing PFA on my radio does the same thing!
One workaround until we find the cause is to change mode from within wfview and then change it back, this resets the passband indicator to the correct size.
When you press the PFA button, it switches the radio to CW with a very narrow filter. It then switches back to your previous mode once finished. Unfortunately, due to a logic error in the way wfview handles mode changes, it wasn’t detecting the new mode.
I have now fixed this and it will be in the next release.
