Uninstalling WFView on Windows 11

When wishing to back-level WFView on Windows 11, looking in settings, I see versions 2.03, 2.10 and 2.11 listed however NONE of them will uninstall from the Windows settings / Apps program

Going to the program directory and running the maintenancetool removes v2.11 however the other two versions are still listed by Windows as installed. This is most likely entries that are left in the registry.

Does this mean however, that before an upgrade we should de-install the previous version?

Thanks & 73 Ed DD5LP.

Yes, unfortunately the Qt-IFW (Installation Framework) that we use doesn’t correctly replace existing versions at the moment.

I have always advised that users remove previous versions first (configuration data is always retained)

Thanks Phil,
From what I remember, the early versions of WSJTx had the same problem. I had loads of versions of that program listed, and in the end, went through the registry and manually removed them.

Hello,
Will the program just remain inactive on my program list until I figure out how to get it to work with my IC705. In the meantime, I’m going to do FT8 with usb cable method. I would prefer the wireless, but had issues getting wfview to see my IC705.

Robert, what is your question?

I’m trying to uninstall the WFView software, although I might change my approach. I have an IC 705 with their system 1.32 installed on it. Per documentation that ICom put out last spring, the WLAN function has been updated. I have version 2.11 of your software. Do you know if the connection process is changed, with these two updates? When I try to connect, the CIV attempt message scrolls at the bottom of the screen, then nothing happens.
I have been following the user guide on your website, and come back to the same place each time. No connection. Sorry for the long question.
Thanks. Bob NY3T

Hi Bob,

To install, navigate to your wfview install directory and run the program “maintenancetool.exe” which is in that directory.

Your wfview install directory is either:

C:\Program Files\wfview\

or

C:\PRogram Files (x86)\wfview\

Thanks,

–E

Hi Elliot. I ended up getting my radio connected to pc then launched your program. did all the virtual connections and had the remote going. then opened WSJTX , did brief configure then made 5 contacts on 20 meters. once I. got past some initial tinkering program worked great. amazing. no wires. when you program kicked in I had wifi /wlan on ic705 screen. this is too cool.
