WFSERVER Debugging and Log File

I am just beginning to look into running wfserver on an RPi3B. So far I have successfully done the following:

  1. Operated WFVIEW from my windows laptop connected directly to the IC-7300
  2. Operated a client WFVIEW from my windows laptop connecting to a WFVIEW server on the RPi. (I even have sound from both a USB headset and the built-inn speaker, although it is sometimes choppy.)
  3. I built WFSERVER following the online instructions.
  4. Ran “wfserver --debug &” on the RPi and I am not seeing my laptop client successfully operating the radio. However the client does not complain, and it shows the “Cancel Connection” button as if the client was able to make a successful connection to the server.

Here is where I am:
The client (wfview) side log file:

wfview-20241107104648.log (2.3 KB)

The server .conf file:
wfserver.conf (594 Bytes)

I don’t know where the server-side log file is located. I don’t see it in the same folder where wfview puts its log files.

My first question is where should the wfserver log files be found? If someone can spot any other problems in the two uploaded files, that would be helpful.

Thanks,
Jim, AK6JS

Not sure if WFSERVER is fully functioning. but Elliott (one of the SW devs ) would know for sure.

Im not going to say that it doesnt work, but if you can, I would just continue to use WFVIEW server that is working for you.

I have this:

[ house laptop ]==----WiFi----==[ shack laptop ]::::USB::::[IC7300 ]

this probably close to your setup. on the shack laptop I run WFVIEW with server enabled in the settings. I ‘remote’ into the shack laptop with either VNC or with Windows Remote Desktop. In your case, with the rpi, just install TigerVNC Server and then you can remote into rpi with VNC Viewer on your windows laptop in the house.

Did you read the manual page for wfserver as that config file has the audio settings in the wrong place?
