WFServer or WFView as LAN Server for RSBA1?

Hello dearOMs,

I have a quesion - since I purchased an ICOM 9700 which has got an LAN Interface, I am running both WFView and Icom;s RSBA1 (which I have been given along the 9700…nice). I have a question - since my main rig is down and I do run my remote backup , which consist of Ic9700 VHF and UP and Ic7300 for HF/6m, is there a possibility to either modify or perhpas just configure the wfserver or wfview server function, to emulate the ICOM Remote utility / RSBA1 server?
I often use my Microsoft Surface and I have tons of memories plus an option to do IP+, setup compression helps.
Would this be an option? Or would an External Access virtual COM Port work perhaps?

Best regards

Jiri OK2IT

PS - i fell in love with the new look of the ICOM 7760… or is 7670? well…the big 200W HF/6M with separate RF Deck and control. Seems like (like Flex Msestro) you can run it over AN, so with proper VPN and Layer2, you can certainly run remote…and it will do wfview since it has got server and LAN port also.

Wfview already does this. Although I can’t say it gets tested a lot.

Elliot,

Are there any written instructions for how to setup using WFWiew as the server and RSBa1 as the remote client?

Thank you,

Don R. Jarvis, W5SOG

Hi Don,

I don’t have a copy of rsba1 (it only works under windows), so this is not something I’ve tried. But it’s the same protocol and I know others have tried it.
