Wrong frequency shown from time to time

While transmitting with JTDX, from time to time, the frequency changes to another one (apparently random frequency) that has nothing to do with the original frequency.

When this happens there is no remote Wfview client connected. I connect with VNC to the remote PC and run both Wfview and JTDX there.

JTDX is configured to use “Hamlib NET rigctl” for CAT, and the network server is set to localhost (127.0.0.1:4533)

In the log of Wfview I see several lines with the text “INF serial: Collision detected by remote, resending previous command”. I don’t know if they have to do with the strange “random” frequency change.

What could be the reason of this “Collision”?

You don’t mention which radio you are using? I assume IC-7100 or earlier?

Older Icom radios have a half-duplex C-IV connection, which is prone to collisions if the client and radio both send data at the same time. wfview has code to mitigate this, but it isn’t 100%

Version 2 of wfview uses a different technique to limit the data being sent to the radio, and in testing, we have found this is substantially better. We hope to release v2 once we have resolved a few issues.

Thanks for the information Phil,

Radio is an IC-9100, so possibly it is that half-duplex issue.

Looking forward to version 2 of Vfview!
