Please provide the following information with your question:
MacOS Sequoia 15.5 Intel
Method of download attempted :from wfview.org version 2.11 MacOS Universal
Radio Make and Model: Xiegu x6100
Method of radio connectivity: WiFi
Did you check the [FAQ] - loosely
in my folder on MacOS - I do not have ANY Xiegu rig files - just several Icom and Kenwood rig files. It connects, but not everything works. I see in hamlilb they support the Xiegu X6100, and have a specific rig file for it.
Is it possible to download the latest hamfile bundle, extract the specific rigfile and just copy it to /Applications/wfview/Contents/MacOS/rigs folder? Or must hamlib be recompiled and wfview recompiled to include the new hamlib?
I could create a rigfile from the default Icom 705 (which sorta works), but it would be far easier to start off with the specific rigfile
We aren’t using Hamlib for radio control. Hamlib doesn’t support what we do at all.
The X6100 identifies itself as an IC-705, and it is quite difficult to tell these two radios apart. From a radio control point of view, it’s a challenge. Despite this, the support you get with our 705 rig file should be pretty good.
I should also note:
We have yet to receive a single report of an X6100 successfully transmitting any network audio. And there is no command or menu to switch the audio from Mic to Network.
The X6100 does not identify scope band limits correctly. Not sure there’s anything we could do to fix that.
In short, that rig kind of falls short on network control.
Xiegu never shared with us the source code of their wfview-derived (GNU/GPL) built-in server, so we are truly unable to fix it.
Ok, those were a couple of the items I noticed - among 3 or so others.
So - is it possible to use wfview with serial? Or just too slow? I ask bcz I’ve seen nothing about that type of support, except for flrig (which works really good).
I don’t know of anyone trying the X6100 with wfview over usb-serial but I suspect it will work.
Flrig is an excellent application (one of the best at what it does, IMO), but I do not think it supports the waterfall view yet, which would be your advantage if you are able to use wfview with the X6100.
Maybe if enough people ask Xiegu for the source code of the wfview server portion, we can get it and fix it up. It’s pretty close as it stands! They have everything to gain. Plus, you know, license compliance.
